For over six years, Heritage Epping has been a dedicated supporter of Australian youth, championing innovative programs like the School to Work initiative. Their unwavering commitment recently earned them the esteemed Employer Recognition Award, highlighting their pivotal role in nurturing talent and closing educational gaps to shape the future of aged care.

Through our collaborative partnership, we endeavour to forge valuable learning opportunities and events that seamlessly bridge the divide between education and employment. Real-world experiences offer insights that textbooks cannot, which is why Heritage Epping takes pride in its participation in the School to Work program.

“The recognition is well-deserved. Your dedication to supporting young people is deeply valued and crucial,” remarked Dennis, the School to Work Program Manager, who had the privilege of presenting Susan from Heritage Epping with this prestigious award.

A Community of Learning and Support

At Heritage Epping, students from local schools such as St. Monica’s College Epping, Marymede Catholic College South Morang, and Al Siraat College are not mere spectators but active participants in the daily lives of residents. From activities like bingo, card games, and crafts to personalised interactions, these young individuals gain practical experience that shapes their future careers and personal growth.

Isabella Pezzimenti, reflecting on her time, expressed gratitude for the invaluable opportunity and experience: “I want to thank you again for the exposure and leadership I received during my time at Heritage Care. Your guidance at the facility was truly invaluable, and I cherish every moment spent alongside you all.”

Looking Ahead: Meeting Future Challenges

As we look toward the future, the aged care industry anticipates significant expansion and transformation. With an aging population, the demand for skilled caregivers and healthcare professionals is on the rise. Heritage Epping recognises the importance of preparing the next generation for these challenges, exemplified by their proactive partnership with the School to Work program.

By investing in youth through mentorship, training, and exposure to real-world scenarios, Heritage Epping not only ensures a pipeline of talented individuals but also fosters a culture of compassion and excellence within the aged care community. This forward-thinking approach benefits not only the students involved but also enhances the resilience and sustainability of our healthcare system.

“It’s been heartwarming to witness the intergenerational joy shared between seniors and students,” says Susan, lifestyle coordinator at Heritage Epping, who oversees student placements. “Seeing many young students successfully complete their placement with us has been truly inspiring. This program not only provides valuable extra-curricular experiences but also fosters social bonds, builds positive relationships with our team and residents, and promotes inclusivity within our community. We eagerly anticipate continuing our partnership with IELLEN.”
